It’s an unpopular opinion, but the first ‘Justice League’ was better

It took me four sessions to finish Zack Snyder’s Justice League, as for me it was a four-hour slog. I see a lot of people calling this reconstructed film better than the original and even…a masterpiece. I, on the other hand, see Zack Snyder’s Justice League as a longer, more drawn out, and uncompromising mess. I understand that this is going to be an unpopular opinion, but the original was better.

If you are not aware of the story behind the Justice League, here is a quick summary of what happened. Zack Snyder, who directed the first DC Cinematic Universe…

It’s possible to watch every film from your couch.

The 93rd Academy Awards are coming fast and time is running out to watch as many nominated films as possible. For me, the Oscars are my Super Bowl, but in the past, it has been hard to watch all the nominated films. Usually, I am unable to see a good ten percent of the films (especially the short films), whether it be that they are not playing at a theater near me or that they are only playing for a few days at a theater near me.

This year, I am on a mission to watch every Academy Award-nominated film…

You know when you’ve seen a true work of art. No matter how many times you look at it, watch it, hear it, the excitement never fades. For me, it’s The Witch.

The Witch is a film that was released in late 2015, with a wider release in early 2016. It is also a movie that I have seen more than two dozen times. In 2015, I was living in Los Angeles and I was very excited to see The Witch. From the peek-a-boo scene in the first moments of the trailer to the final shot of a boy with…

A review of the 2020 Best Picture Nominee.

Still frame courtesy of Focus Features

Is this the first time a revenge film has been nominated for Best Picture? I believe the answer is yes, and if I’m right, deservingly so.

I have watched tons of revenge films in my time. From Wes Craven’s classic rape-revenge film Last House on The Left to I Spit on Your Grave to 2017’s aptly named film Revenge, most revenge films are hard to watch. When the lead is a woman, the film usually consists of a group of horrible men doing horrible things to the woman and leaving her for dead, her seeking revenge, your mileage may vary…

Oscar Nominee for Best Picture

Still Frame From The Movie ‘Nomadland’ | Cinematographer Joshua James Richards

Partially based on a true story, Nomadland tells the story of a late-middle-aged woman, Fern, who lost everything in the 2008 Great Recession and becomes a van-dwelling Nomad; Traveling along the American West, looking for work and ultimately finding herself.

Every year there is one Academy Award-nominated movie that I just cannot connect with, and Nomadland is that movie for me. In no way am I saying this is a bad movie, in fact, I think this is a great movie, and there are people out there that this movie will really speak to… I am just not that person…

My Journey Into Writing

Photo by Ashley West Edwards on Unsplash

A question I have asked myself many times is “why am I not blogging?”. When I was young, I loved writing stories. I wrote stories about adventure, exploration, horror, and whatever else I could think of. In elementary school, I created two beloved series during my creative writing blocks. The first was about Zombie Cows and the second was a horror anthology about real-life gas stations… ok, maybe they were only beloved to my classmates and me. …
